It’s that time of year again when we dust off our kit and prepare to march through the streets of Nantwich in Cheshire this Saturday for another Holy Holly Day to mark the lifting of the Siege of Nantwich in 1643!
For the past 41 years, the Sealed Knot has gathered in the town to help the residents celebrate the moment when the Parliamentarian army of Lord Thomas Fairfax successfully fought and defeated the Royalists under Lord Byron.
As well as marching through the streets in an evocative display of arms, we’ll also be taking the muddy (and probably snowy) confines of Mill Island for a thrilling battle featuring musket, pike, sword and cannon! We love this little event, which marks the beginning of a new year of re-enacting and is great fun for the whole family.
