After a fantastic weekend, members of The Earl of Manchester’s Regiment of Foote are now recovering from taking part in the Peterborough Heritage Festival, which saw the grounds around the stunning cathedral transformed into an eon-spanning historical extravaganza, covering periods from the Roman era to the Second World War.
Thousands of people visited our military encampment, watching as a 17th Century meal was prepared, having a go in the stocks, and seeing the English Civil War history of Peterborough come to life.
Roundhead louts then ‘purged’ the cathedral of ornament, before clashing with locals intent on preserving their church.
It was a joy and a privilege to be a part of these celebrations of this town’s varied past, and we hope to return next year.
