When: 7pm to 10.30pm, Friday 26th October 2018
Where: Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont St, Oxford OX1 2PH

A black day, a dark day – is there a malignancy of witchcraft at the heart of Oxford? As part of Live Friday at the Ashmolean Museum marking the enthralling Spellbound exhibition, from a death foretold to a court of law, witnesses will be interrogated, suspects searched, and fingers pointed as a 17th Century witch trial is brought to terrifying life!

Drawing on authentic accounts from the ‘hey day’ of witch trials in the 1640s, you are invited to hear the evidence and witness the trial as investigators seek to uncover whether a small community is overcome by hysteria or is actually under the spell of witches…

Just make sure you don’t fall prey to the investigations of the ‘Seekers’…

This Live Friday, explore the Spellbound: Magic, Ritual and Witchcraft exhibition and encounter magicians, illusionists, astrolabe demonstrations in the galleries, listen to talks on magic and medicine, star-gaze with astronomers, and experiment with face distortion. Or have a go at potion making, defend against the Dark Arts, or try the Magic Mirror of Floren.
