
Whether they’re hanging out with their new friends or joining the Apprentices, the Sealed Knot is tailor-made for families. Your kids will develop a passion for history while also meeting new chums and learning great social skills.
The Sealed Knot Apprentices is for kids aged 10-15 and meet at large events to practice their skills in pike, musket and drumming, using scaled down versions of weapons but engaging in vigorous drilling – often outshining the adult members with their abilities.
What do kids do at events?
The Sealed Knot is a really family-friendly organisation and is a great hobby for everyone to enjoy.
Our campsites are secure and there are usually people able to keep an eye on the kids while you relax and mny of our members share child-watching duties to ensure time on the field.
The Sealed Knot Apprentices have a great deal of fun whilst drilling, drumming, fighting and marching in their own wing of the army, and also take part in various energetic games depending on what their leaders can think up. Where else would your kids get a chance to practise their sword skills in the grounds of a stately home surrounded by all of their new mates?
It is the aim of Manchester’s to help young people learn about the Sealed Knot and to take part as much as their age allows. All of Manchester’s youngest members are encouraged to join the Sealed Knot Apprentices once they reach the age of 10. This will give them the relevant experience and skills required to ensure they are ready to go onto the battlefield once they reach 16 and can join in the regular battles!
FAQ
What happens to the kids when the battle is on?
There are many members of the regiment who don’t take part in battles, so there’s usually someone at the campsite who keeps an eye on the youngsters. Quite often they will come and watch the battle from the sidelines, or if these folk are unavailable then parents with young kids will often share child-watching duties.
What kit will they need?
If the kids want to dress up, children’s kit is really easy to get hold of and the regiment has some kit can be lent to you for their first few musters.
