The new season is upon us and what a cracking Bank Holiday Weekend event to begin hostilities!
Come and witness the Sealed Knot in full battle, AND FOR FREE, at Elvaston Castle in Derbyshire.
On Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd May from 1.15pm, the Earl of Manchester’s Regiment of Foote will take part in the re-enactment of the sieges of the castle with pike, musket and cannon.
First built in 1633, with one wing still intact today, Elvaston Castle was first settled by Sir John Stanhope, father of the Earl of Chesterfield. Sir John died and in 1643 the house was held by his widow, Lady Stanhope.
Parliamentarian forces besieged and plundered the house before proceeding to the church and destroying the tomb of Sir John and then wantonly rooted up her ladyship’s flower-garden!
Come and see us take to the field, meet some of the characters from the siege and enjoy a FREE family day out.

Where: Elvaston Castle Country Park, Borrowash Road, Elvaston, Derby, DE72 3EP
When: Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd May, from 1.15pm

Please note that while the event is free, car parking charges do apply.
