From barber-surgeons to ballad sellers, from spies to gamblers – this half term meet the past at Nunnington Hall as the English Civil War comes to life!
On the 2nd and 3rd November, troops of The Earl of Manchester’s Regiment of Foote will be garrisoning the stunning National Trust property in North Yorkshire. Occupied by soldiers during the English Civil Wars of the 17th Century, legend has it that the large oak table in Nunnington Hall was used as an operating table by a barber surgeon!
In a fascinating event that will entertain and educate, you can visit the hall from 10.30am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday to:

Conserved and managed by the National Trust, Nunnington Hall was first mentioned in the 13th Century and the site has had many different owners, including William Parr, the brother of Queen Catherine Parr. Most of the building seen today was created during the 1680s.
