Where: Crowland Abbey, Crowland, Peterborough, PE6 0EN
When: 11.15am-8pm on Saturday 16 September & 12.15pm-4.30pm Sunday 17 September
We are delighted to be supporting our friends in the London Brigade of the Army of Parliament at Crowland Abbey for their unique and spectacular English Civil War re-enactment & Living History weekend!
With a torch-lit parade and night battle featuring artillery and ‘fire pikes’, culminating in a fantastic fireworks display, this is not an event to be missed.
The event is based on the very real events in 1643, when a Royalist militia – led by the “pernicious and desperate malignant” Captain Welbie – kidnapped the pro-Parliamentarian vicar of nearby Spalding and used him as a human shield during a siege of the abbey by the people of Spalding.
Admission is £5 for the weekend, with under 16s free. Wristbands are available from the Abbey and more details can be found at www.CrowlandAbbey.org.uk
